Institutions Preparedness for National Education Policy (NEP) 2020

Nation has framed the NEP and the Government of Himachal Pradesh has adopted this policy. We in our institution are doing our best to make the necessary infrastructure arrangements to adopt NEP. Being an affiliated college the syllabi are being made by the Himachal Pradesh University/Sardar Patel University and it will be implemented in our institution from session 2024-25.

Infrastructural Arrangements: An additional academic block is being constructed with an estimated cost of 3.18 crore to supplement the existing block. A separate administrative block is also proposed for which tenders have been issued by the executive agency HPPWD. New high-tech classrooms are being created.

Adoption of CBCS: The choice-based credit system is adopted by the institution in UG and PG courses. A student has a lot of options to choose the subject of their choice. In UG classes students are also given options to study the skill enhancement courses (SEC), and ability enhancement courses (AECC) to enhance their skills and communication abilities. The institution provides add-on courses to increase the communication skills of the students. To enhance the multidisciplinary approach students are given the option to select general elective (GE) courses of other disciplines. In the spirit of NEP, the institution is planning to run vocational courses and also to promote an interdisciplinary research culture among students and faculty.

Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): The Government has issued guidelines to the affiliating universities viz HPU and SPU to implement ABC. As and when such guidelines are received from these universities, the institution is ready with all the necessary needs to implement them.

Promotion of Indian knowledge and Culture: The institution always promotes the local tradition and culture on and outside the campus. Institutions have purchased local folk instruments to promote this culture. Traditional dance and song “Nati” are given due weightage while representing our institution in inter-college competitions. The regional and mother languages are given preferences and to further promote it separate sections viz Sanskrit and Pahadi are added to the college magazine “KAMAKHYA”. A “Cultural Heritage Museum” has also been instituted to preserve our traditional attire, articles, manuscripts, and traditional instruments and the museum showcases the architecture of deities. To promote Yoga, International Yoga Day is celebrated in the campus.

Holistic Growth of Students: The institution is striving hard for the holistic growth of the students. Students are provided education with state of art ICT facilities, they are given ample opportunity to represent the college in various sports and cultural events in the state. The college also has NCC, NSS, Rovers and Rangers, and various clubs and societies which provide a platform for the students for extra-curricular activities.
